T.D.MEDICAL COLLEGE HOSPITAL, ALAPPUZHA

General  Description

Main Building of TDMC Hospital

TDMC Main Hospital Entrance

When the T.D.Medical College was started, the District Headquarters Hospital at Alappuzha was being used as the teaching hospital for training the medical students. This hospital was further developed by constructing additional buildings for the inpatient wards to meet the requirements of a teaching institution as per the stipulation of Indian Medical Council (IMC). Subsequently in 1973, the whole District Hospital was handed over to the Principal, T.D.Medical College, Alappuzha, as this was required for the recognition of the medical college by I.M.C. Thus this became the T.D.Medical College Hospital under the administrative control of the Principal, T.D.Medical College. This hospital now with a bed strength of 920 is being used to train both the undergraduate and postgraduate students and also the house surgeons.
